This morning, we bypass the normal Mess to give Nonnie Jules, author of The Good Mommies' Guide to Raising (Almost) Perfect Daughters, a chance to share her characters with us of her new book soon to be out. I know you'll enjoy the opportunity to meet some new people and getting to know more about another writer. Be sure to check out both books and Nonnie's website. You won't be disappointed.
Hello all and thanks for having me here at THE MESS! My name is NONNIE JULES and yes, Robbie has had me over before promoting my first published piece, "THE GOOD MOMMIES' GUIDE TO RAISING (ALMOST) PERFECT DAUGHTERS", 100 Tips On Raising Daughters Everyone Can't Help But Love! (now in ebook or paperback format. You may view the trailer on YouTube) but this time I'm promoting a NEW book, a novel called DAYDREAM'S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE'S FRIEND. This is the third release date that this book has had, but I can assure you, it's the last. Mark your calendars for October 31st, (yes, Halloween) as THE final release date.

Today is the fourth day
of my MEET THE CHARACTERS OF DAYDREAM'S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE'S FRIEND Blog
Tour. I wanted to get the readers braced for this bunch BEFORE the
release of the actual book! On Sunday, I introduced Maiya James (teenage main
character), Monday it was her mom, Aurelia "Daydream"
James, and Tuesday it was Duran Lee, Jr.
(Aurelia's common-law husband). Today, you will all get to meet Charlotte
Ingram (Maiya's best friend). I hope you will enjoy getting to know
Charlotte better as she is a friend to the end. I really wish I had a BFF
like Charlotte and after reading her interview, you will wish the same.
I hope that you all will
follow the rest of the tour here at WATCH
NONNIE WRITE! and after you've looked around, do FOLLOW me if you liked
what you saw. I can be found most days on Twitter @nonniejules supporting other
authors. Now, here's Charlotte....
Q: Hello Charlotte
Ingram. Would you please tell us how old you are and your relationship to
DAYDREAM'S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE'S FRIEND?
A: Yes, I am 16 yrs old and I am Maiya's
best friend. We've been besties since 4th grade.
Q: How did you
guys meet and where?
A: In 4th grade we were in the same class and
one day we both walked over to the reading center the teacher had in the
classroom and started talking about books, which we both love! From that
day on, we have literally been inseparable.
Q: Are you guys
really that close?
A: Well, we dress
alike, we both love maxie dresses. When I had the flu, she had the
flu. Literally we're sick at the same time, I guess because we're around
each other so much we share germs (laughs). We both got glasses in 6th
grade and we like the same music. We like the same people, we dislike
the same people. So what does that tell you?
Q: What
specifically do you like about Maiya? And is there something about her
that you don't like?
A: I love everything about Mai.
That's what I call her. She's the greatest friend anyone could ever have.
She's not afraid of anything although at times, she could be perceived as shy,
but that's because some of the kids at school say really mean things about
her. I think she feels if she doesn't interact with them, then they won't
know anymore than they think they already know about her, because of course,
they'd turn around and use it against her. The kids at school are
mean. What don't I like about Mai? Hmm, I couldn't think of one
thing, but wait...I could...I don't like that she doesn't share all of the bad
things that go on with her at home with me. That's the only thing I don't
like about my bestie.
Q: You mentioned she doesn't like telling you about the "bad" things that happen to her at home. Can you tell us about some of those "bad" things?
A: I hope Mai won't get mad at me for saying this but she recently opened up to me about some things that her stepfather was doing to her. And she also has shared with me that her mom is awful to her. She must have really needed to get these things out when she told me, because usually, we don't talk about her home life.
Q: Charlotte, could you elaborate on her stepfather and the things she shared with you about him?
A: No, I think I may have said too much already. You won't be printing any of this will you?
Q: Well, yea I was planning on printing it, but if you'd prefer that I left that part out I will.
A: Please. That's her personal story to tell and I shouldn't have shared it. I'm always looking for ways to help better her situation or get her away from that house, though. She makes it sound like hell. Seriously.
Q: May I ask your personal opinion of her mom and her step-father?
A: I don't like either of them. Mai has told me how they treat her and I just don't like it. I wish she would let me tell my parents, so that the authorities could get involved. I'm sure it's against the law the things they do to her, the way they talk to her and how they constantly abuse her in all sorts of unimaginable ways.
Q: Care to elaborate on any of that, Charlotte?
A: No, again I've said entirely too much. But I trust you're not printing any of that, either, right?
Q: You're right. You have my word, Charlotte. Before we go, would you like to share anything else about DAYDREAM'S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE'S FRIEND?
A: Only that when you're done reading it from start to finish, your mouth will be on the floor.
Q: Thanks so much, Charlotte. You've been such a treat!
A: Oh, you're welcome. Remember, don't print any of what I said about Mai's personal situation, OK?
(Since you're all reading this, you should know that you can't ever TRUST THE MEDIA! They care more about the great story than they do about you. Poor Charlotte)

Thanks for visiting The Mess! Keep chasing your dreams!

I am enjoying learning a little about the characters before I dive into the book.
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to a little bit about them, isn't it? Thanks for visiting.
DeleteThanks Robbie for allowing us to hang out here for a day. Charlotte told me she had a great time (but she hasn't seen this interview yet. I think i'm going to blame it all on you!). Thanks my dear friend Kathryn for everything, always! I will try not to disappoint with the book, but once you've read it, I hope you will let me know if I did. Truly!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Nonnie. And that's okay, I'm used to being blamed lol. Good luck with the book!
